I’ve seen other bloggers doing these “currently” posts for awhile now and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon. It seems like a great way to talk about a few different things and tie it all together. So here we go!
Watching: Sons of Anarchy. This post is full of bandwagons I’m late to but oh well! Being home for the summer has meant time to watch things I’ve been meaning to for awhile but then I marathon-ed Gilmore Girls and Grey’s Anatomy for the 7th and 3rd time, respectively. Now with one week left I’m starting SOA and I love it so far. I’m only a few episodes in but it’s definitely right up my alley. Oh also lots of John Cusak movies. My favorites during the summertime! I call it the trifecta: Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity (a cosssssssssby sweataa!!), and Serendipity.
Listening to: The score music from this scene in Serendipity. It’s one of my all time favorite pieces of score music but until recently I never had an mp3 for it. It’s written by Alan Silvestri but was only released on the European soundtrack. It has taken me YEARS to track it down so I’ve had multiple youtube videos of this scene saved in my favorites. For anyone who would like to download it it’s just called “Obituary” by Alan Silvestri.
Thinking about: The fact that summer is over in one more week! We teachers go back to school around these parts on July 29th! Kiddos come back on August 8th so it’s still a few weeks for them, but still! I’m running around trying to get things ready for my classroom while still enjoying my last week. I’m so excited for this year you have NO idea. I’m definitely much less nervous than I was right before my first year and I just know my kiddos and I will have an amazing time. I feel very lucky to be teaching at such a wonderful school in my favorite grade. I’ve already met so many of the new teachers and while I will definitely miss my friends from my old school (and my kiddos!), these new ladies are wonderful as well! I know this is the right change for me and I hope to be at this school for many many years! Here is a photo of my new room, with Brittany in the middle. It still looks pretty boring but that will change on Monday! I will take a LOT more pictures then.
Loving: These little guys right here.
This photo was taken about a week ago and already Bruce is bigger than he was there! He’s as tall as Marty now, but thinner. Bruce definitely changed my first summer in a huge way. There were some rough moments when I thought, “Why did I do this to myself??!?!” We couldn’t go out of town and I had to be home much more than I wanted to be. But I don’t regret it a bit. He is SUCH a loving little dog. We had a few moments where he and Marty were fighting pretty bad, but I think we’re over the worst of it. Steven, the dogs, and myself were all cuddled up in bed this morning and I just knew that this is where Bruce belongs. I don’t want to forget about my Marty though! He started some heavy training with a professional dog trainer and he is doing WONDERFULLY! I cannot be more proud of my boy!
Reading: The Summer I Became A Nerd. It’s about a girl who is a nerd on the inside and the popular cheerleader on the outside. She’s embarrassed by her love of comics, cosplay, and rpg gaming so she hides it under her false identity of pop music, quarterback boyfriend, and popular status at school. As an out and proud nerd I’m finding this book to be adorable so far. I’m only 50 pages in but I’ll let you know how I like it at the end! So far she’s found a nerdy boy she’s crushing on pretty hard and it’s SO cute!
Making me happy: Speaking of nerdssssss Steven and I are SO into Pacific Rim right now it’s ridiculous. I love getting into new fandoms. I’m tracking every possible tumblr tag and we’re buying ALL THE THINGS! We’ve got the whole hero clix set, the 7 inch figures, the novelization, the Year Zero comic, and the art book. We’ve also seen it at the IMAX twice now and I’m sure we’ll see it again. Diss the movie all you want, I’m convinced it was amazing. It reminded me of how I felt after I saw Independence Day in 1996. The kid in me came out and was just in awe of this movie! Also, Charlie Hunnam helps.
Well that’s all folks! I thought about adding a “hating” category to talk about how disappointed I was in The Conjuring, but I didn’t want to spoil it for anyone. In a week though, it’s fair game! So what’s new with you guys?
