…Or at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m walking my dog along the back fence of our apartment complex. The one that is fenced off with barbed wire and makes me feel like we live in District 12. This is the Capitol’s way of keeping us in you see. But don’t worry, we found a weakness in the fence so we can escape into the wilderness and hunt for food. Or you know… shop at the Wal-Mart it separates us from. Either way.
I have finally gotten around to taking a photo of another one of my tattoos. You’d think that taking photos of your own tattoos wouldn’t be as difficult as it is. I’d love to share my tattoos more often but honestly I have a headache right now from spending the last 45 minutes trying to get ONE good shot of this one. It involves a lot of twisting, bending, and checking the camera every two seconds to see if it’s in focus. Plus, since it’s on my body, I have to keep making sure my skin isn’t stretched in an odd way or it makes the whole tattoo look off. I should really do this with someone, but I HATE letting people take pictures of me. It makes me feel so awkward. ANYWAY! Today I am sharing another Harry Potter tattoo. This one is also based on chapter art. The chapter is “The Silver Doe” from The Deathly Hallows. This tattoo is my tribute to my favorite character, Severus Snape, and his love for Lily Potter. That small but very important storyline is my favorite thing about the Harry Potter series.

My tattoo is directly from the book. Nothing fancy added to it. Sometimes I think about adding a frame around it, but there really isn’t room!

Here is the original picture if you’d like to compare them. Once again, this tattoo is the work of the wonderful Anson Easton, who is booked a few weeks out and therefore cannot do my graduation tattoo right now :( But he’s worth the wait!
So I’ve been finished with school for over a week now and I’m so happy to say I’m already working hard on a few of my summer goals. I’m going to make separate posts about each one, because I’m pretty proud of them, so first I’m going to start with fitness! Like a lot of people, I HATE EXERCISING!! Or at least I thought I did… I’ve gotten really good at eating better but working out has always been something I hate doing. The only form of exercise I didn’t loath was walking. I could walk for hours. I wanted to step it up though so Steven and I have been running and cycling. We also lift weights once a week. In school I was one of those kids who walked the entire time we had to run a mile. I’d always come in last or next to last. But now we’ve been alternating every day between running and cycling and I’m so proud to say that the other night I ran a whole mile without stopping!!! My time was 12 minutes and 30 seconds. I couldn’t believe it. I’m sure that’s a horrible time for people who run a lot, but I was so proud!! On the way back (because we ran over a mile long bridge by the way!) we ran and walked in intervals. Today we biked 16 miles and I wasn’t even tired after! I was hot, but not tired. I could have totally kept going. I think I’m becoming one of those weirdos that like exercise. I can’t believe it!! To celebrate I took some pictures of our bikes because they’re becoming something I really really enjoy. Although, now that I’m biking more I kind of want to get rid of my cruiser and get a hybrid. Woops!
Have you all seen the Avenger’s yet? It was fantastic and we’re going to see it again on Tuesday!
I downloaded a new action set, from the awesome Sara Lynn Paige, and I decided to apply it to some of my Wizarding World pictures from our honeymoon that I was never too excited about. These were all taken with my kit lens since I was scared to take my fancy pants lenses with me. The actions definitely brought new life to the photos and now I really love some of them! Plus they’re from the Wizarding World, so that makes them double awesome!
I’ve shared some of these photos before, in my honeymoon recap posts. They were ok then, but a little washed out. I think they feel much more like I was actually wandering around Hogsmeade now!
I’m often told that I was born in the wrong era based on my favorite clothes, movies, music, and TV shows. I don’t think that is entirely accurate though. My favorite everything is from the mid 80s to early 90s. I was born in 1984, so really, I guess I was too young to appreciate most of it at the time. But I grew up with a sister who is 18 years older than me, so this stuff was all I knew growing up. When I was younger, Nick at Night didn’t play shows like Roseanne and Friends. Those were the Thursday night hit shows. No it played amazing things like Taxi, Mork and Mindy, and Gilligan’s Island. The shows I watched at night with my parents were shows like Married with Children and Perfect Strangers. Aw yes, Perfect Strangers. Best theme song ever.
I won’t lie, I have this song as a ringtone on my phone. Nothing like the Dance of Joy to get your day going. And yes, I own this show on DVD.
Anyway, the real point of this post wasn’t talk to about TV shows. Although I could go all day. But no, the real point was to talk about music. My favorite music, music of the mid 80s to the early 90s. I love late 90s to early 00s music, because I was in middle school then and I grew up with it. But when most people think of the 90s they think of BSB, NSync, etc. But that’s really not true. That is mostly late 90s. BSB didn’t even make it big in the states till 1998. I do love that music, but it’s not my favorite. My favorite is often referred to as Adult Contemporary. It’s the music you probably made fun of your mom for loving. It’s all cheesy and has lots of gratuitous saxophones. Yes, I get called old on a regular basis for this. Yes, I listen to the “easy listening” station. My 80s to 90s playlist is the biggest in my itunes and the one I’m most knowledgeable about. My favorite artists of this time are Bryan Adams, Richard Marx, Don Henley, Roxette, Peter Cetera, and Tears for Fears. There are tons and tons more though of course. And yes I do love The Eagles and Chicago… I just also like the solo stuff. I even listen to Genesis and Phil Collins. Are you judging me yet?
Remember the whole Rick Rolled thing? I mean… how can you not? This is going to make me sound so “hipster” but I promise it’s true. I loved that song before that whole joke. In fact, I like a lot of Rick Astley songs. I still have four in my itunes, and none of them are “Never Gonna Give You Up”. My very first cassette was The Cars, Heartbeat City. I played the crap out of it on my little walkman. I have even told Steven on many occasions that “You Might Think” is our song. One of my all time favorite songs is by Starship, originally Jefferson Starship… and Jefferson Airplane, from 1987. It was featured in the movie “Mannequin” (which is one of my favorite movies hahahaha) but Andrew McCarthy was so cute back then!! And Kim Cattrall is a babe as usual. This song just embodies everything I love about that time period.
Instead of writing 50 more paragraphs about why I love all of this music as much as I do, I decided to share my top 10 songs with you, in no particular order. I’m going to cut the rest of this post though because It’s going to get pretty long. I hope you enjoy them! You’ve probably heard them all before!

Now that I have all of this free time on my hands, I’m catching up on TV shows finally! I’m a few seasons behind on Burn Notice but now thankfully I’m almost finished with season 2! Watching this show brings back all kinds of wonderful memories. Like when my husband and I met Bruce at Supercon in 2009, yup!

To be fair, I didn’t technically meet him. I just stood by while my then boyfriend geeked out over him. But if you would have shown me Bruce back in his Brisco County Jr. days, I would have had a fangirl heart attack. Here are a few photos of Steven and Bruce, his “new best friend”, and Steven in his Ash cosplay. Bruce was totally impressed by his cosplay by the way! Oh yeah! Oh and that is totally Ted Raimi in the background, who we met also!
Yesterday was my final day of internship. I was so excited to be done and am looking forward to the next few months of vacation before I start my new career in the fall. But after a few teary goodbyes yesterday, I feel pretty bummed about leaving my kiddos. They made me the sweetest cards, that I’m going to share in a separate post, and two of them were so inconsolable that I had to walk them to the car at the end of the day. I promised them I’d be back though! They have a play coming up and I promised to come hang out the last week of school. I also made them some goodie bags that I’m going to share. I wanted to do something more than just give them treats and pictures. Instead I made them little letter writing kits, along with candy and fun stuff of course! I promised them that if they write to me over the summer that I would write them back. I included self-addressed stamped envelopes with lots of paper, a pencil, and an eraser. They were SO excited! I can’t wait to get all of my letters this summer. I even bought fun post cards to write them back with.
Also, please note, the bags with names on them are made up! I just used them as examples of what the final product looked like. I would never share my kiddos info on the internet!

The whale is an eraser, I bought them all different ones. They were so excited. Kids are easily amused.

I ended up adding more candy, I included Rolos and NONE of them had ever seen one before!! I was shocked.
Wait until you see the cards they made me. I’m so glad I didn’t read them in front of them, I was a mess!
