Getting in Shape; A Summer Goal in Progress

So I’ve been finished with school for over a week now and I’m so happy to say I’m already working hard on a few of my summer goals. I’m going to make separate posts about each one, because I’m pretty proud of them, so first I’m going to start with fitness! Like a lot of people, I HATE EXERCISING!! Or at least I thought I did… I’ve gotten really good at eating better but working out has always been something I hate doing. The only form of exercise I didn’t loath was walking. I could walk for hours. I wanted to step it up though so Steven and I have been running and cycling. We also lift weights once a week. In school I was one of those kids who walked the entire time we had to run a mile. I’d always come in last or next to last. But now we’ve been alternating every day between running and cycling and I’m so proud to say that the other night I ran a whole mile without stopping!!! My time was 12 minutes and 30 seconds. I couldn’t believe it. I’m sure that’s a horrible time for people who run a lot, but I was so proud!! On the way back (because we ran over a mile long bridge by the way!) we ran and walked in intervals. Today we biked 16 miles and I wasn’t even tired after! I was hot, but not tired. I could have totally kept going. I think I’m becoming one of those weirdos that like exercise. I can’t believe it!! To celebrate I took some pictures of our bikes because they’re becoming something I really really enjoy. Although, now that I’m biking more I kind of want to get rid of my cruiser and get a hybrid. Woops!

For those wondering, I’m currently sitting at 120lbs. I’ve been this weight since around the time of my wedding. It’s my weight after my 30lb weight loss from last year. Ideally I’d like to lose another 10lbs, but it’s getting harder and harder. I’m hoping my new exercise routine added in with my healthy eating will get me there!

    i’ve lost 11 pounds so far and it’s so hard! keep on keepin’ on, lady friend. the last bit of weight is always the hardest, they say.

    I love this set of photos!

    Also, 12 minutes is GREAT for someone who loathes running! I had to work myself up to running frequently as well. Since you’re such a nerd (in a good way)- have you heard about/tried Fitocracy? It’s basically leveling up and unlocking achievements every time you do any exercise. It really helps keep me motivated to do something every day. It’s open to the public now so you don’t need an invite I don’t think (let me know if you do!).

      I actually have a Fitocracy account! I honestly haven’t used it much though, I need to use it more. It’s so fun and really makes you want to get off your butt!! Did you know they have an app now? You probably have it already but just in case. But now that I know you have an account I’ll totally add you on there, and log all of my recent triumphs!

  3. OMG! I’m so proud of you! Who would have ever thought you’d willingly run or bike that far? We were such lazy bastards in high school. ;) Keep it up!! You looked awesome at your wedding and it’s only going to get better. :D
